Job Title: Staff Accountant (NOC 11100) We are looking for an experienced individual to join our team at Lacoste Landscaping and Construction Ltd. as a Staff Accountant. The successful candidate will support the company's day-to-day accounting and related administration, including full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, payroll support, government remittances, and construction project accounting records. The position also supports internal controls, accounting systems, and coordination between accounting and project teams. Strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are required.
Duties
- Oversee the company's financial activities, including financial planning, budgeting, and expense control.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including full-cycle accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), cash management, vendor account management, inventory management, and month/quarter/year-end reconciliations.
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations with the executive team.
- Ensure that correct payments are received and manage past-due accounts.
- Work with external accountants on tax and regulatory filings and government remittances, including WCB and GST.
- Assist in the development and analysis of company reports to support financial statement analysis.
- Develop, document, and improve business processes to strengthen the internal control environment.
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and maintain payroll records, Records of Employment (ROEs), and T4 supporting documentation.
- Support GST and WCB reporting and remittances and help ensure compliance with payroll and tax filing requirements.
- Maintain project accounting records in Knowify, including purchase orders and change orders.
- Support subcontractor documentation and payment tracking through Textura.
- Maintain fleet and equipment records using SiteDocs, Fuel Lock, and Titan GPS.
- Provide general office support, including filing, data entry, document control, and answering or directing incoming phone calls as required.
- Support coordination between accounting and project teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (minimum four-year degree).
- Certificate in Accounting/Bookkeeping.
- Minimum 5-6 years of accounting experience, including at least 1 year of experience in construction accounting.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience with Knowify (strict requirement for this position), plus working knowledge of Textura, SiteDocs, Fuel Lock, and Titan GPS.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO), with a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial recordkeeping.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's licence.
