African Foodways Market Limited is seeking a dependable and organized Cook (Specialty Cuisine) to support food preparation activities within our specialty grocery and prepared food environment in Winnipeg. The successful candidate will assist with preparing meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, monitoring food quality, and supporting daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment.
This is a permanent full-time position located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.Duties
• Determine size of food portions and costs • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances • Prepare and cook special meals as required • Inspect kitchens and food service areas • Order supplies and equipment • Maintain inventory and records of food and supplies • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards • Clean kitchen and work areas
Qualifications
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience • 1 year to less than 2 years of related experience • English language ability required • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment • Good organizational and teamwork skills • Knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices • Experience preparing African or other specialty cuisine is an asset • Knowledge of traditional ingredients and cooking methods is an asset
