Shamattawa Education Authority is now accepting resumes for the following positions for the 2026/2027 school year - Two Resource Teachers, One Kindergarten, One Grade Teacher, One Grade 2 Teacher, Two Grade 3 teachers, One Grade 4 teacher, One Grade 5, One Grade 8, Two High School Teacher (one science and one math specialist), Industrial Arts Teacher,  and a Home Economics and/or ITC Teacher.     Shamattawa First Nation is located along the north shore where the God’s and Echoing Rivers intersect. The community is 1277 kilometres north of Winnipeg and 365 kilometres east by air from a Thompson. The Shamattawa community is home to 1500 people whose language is Cree. The community is remote and isolated, with accessibility only by air and seasonal winter road. Our new 48 million dollar school opened its doors on January 18th, 2016 -for Pre- Kindergarten to Grade 12 students.   We offer unique and exciting challenges for the dedicated professional, both outdoors and in the classrooms. Hunting for moose, caribou and geese are popular events in the community. There is a variety of fish such as Northern Pike, White fish, Sturgeon and Brook Trout. The Spring and Fall are beautiful times of the year, and winter is great for outdoor sporting activities, such as skating at the school’s skating rink. The community celebrates Traditional Treaty Days in late June, which is always an enjoyable event. So, ‘Come and Experience the North’!!!!   Applicants must have or be eligible for a valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate. Applicants must also present clear Criminal Records and Child Abuse Registry check.
