Wolseley Wild Play: Job Posting   Job Title: Outdoor Play & Learning Facilitator/Forest School Facilitator Program: Wolseley Wild Play Location: Starting and ending at Laura Secord School (960 Wolseley Avenue) Schedule: Wednesdays & Thursdays, 3:30–5:30 PM Additional Opportunities: Full in-service days and summer camp programming About Wolseley Wild Play Wolseley Wild Play is an outdoor, child-led after-school program rooted in forest school principles. We prioritize curiosity, risk-taking, connection to nature, and community building. Our goal is to create a space where children can explore freely, develop resilience, and build meaningful relationships with the natural world and each other. We operate within urban greenspaces in the Wolseley Community, and city parks in Winnipeg. Learn more about our program and staff here. Position Overview We are seeking a passionate, reliable, and creative Outdoor Play & Learning Facilitator to support outdoor after-school sessions for children. The facilitator will guide nature-based play and learning experiences while ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. This role is ideal for someone who is excited not only to facilitate programming but also to grow alongside us. We are looking for a team member interested in expanding Wolseley Wild Play into a 5-day/week after-school program in the fall and contributing to the long-term development of the program.  

Duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support outdoor, child-led play and learning experiences
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants
  • Conduct basic risk assessments and support healthy risk-taking in play
  • Communicate effectively with children, families, and team members
  • Assist with planning and adapting activities based on children’s interests and seasonal changes
  • Support transitions to and from Laura Secord School
  • Maintain program materials and ensure outdoor spaces are respected and cared for
Additional Opportunities
  • Facilitate full-day programming during school in-service days
  • Lead or assist with summer camp programming
  • Facilitate land-based learning
  • Facilitate after school bike programming, with an interest in becoming certified as a community cycling coach for youth
  • Contribute to program development and expansion toward a 5-day/week model

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience working with children (ages 5–12 preferred)
  • Interest in outdoor education, forest school philosophy, or nature-based learning
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening (required)
Assets (Not Required but Valued)
  • Forest School certification or training
  • Background in education, child development, camp counselling, or recreation
  • Experience leading outdoor or experiential programming
  • Interest in cycling and leading youth through cycling skill development
