Benito Country Store, a trusted neighbourhood grocery destination is seeking a dedicated leader to join our team. As a vital hub for the Benito community and a licensed Manitoba Liquor Vendor, we pride ourselves on being a reliable source for groceries, household supplies, and hardware. We are currently expanding our services with a new annexed food counter eatery and are looking for a Retail Store Supervisor to oversee our retail operations and ensure continued excellence in customer service. Duties
As a Retail Store Supervisor at Benito Country Store, you will:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of retail sales clerk and kitchen helpers.
- Assign sales workers to specific duties and prepare work schedules to ensure seamless store coverage.
- Authorize payments by cheque and the return of merchandise.
- Manage inventory levels by ordering merchandise, supplies, and equipment while informing management of any shortages.
- Coordinate and oversee kitchen operations within the annexed deli to ensure portion control and cost management.
- Balance and reconcile daily transactions by calculating total payments collected at the close of each shift, ensuring accuracy against recorded sales.
- Ensure strict compliance with age verification protocols for restricted items such as lottery tickets, alcohol, and tobacco products.
- Resolve customer complaints and address any issues that arise during daily operations.
- Maintain a clean and safe shopping environment, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Train new staff in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies.
Qualifications
- Completion of college diploma / degree of one or two years.
- One year of previous experience in a retail or service environment is required.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols and food safety regulations is considered an asset.
- Good communication skills and a "socially neat" professional demeanor suitable for a community hub.
- Reliability and a strong sense of responsibility regarding the sale of regulated products.
